Abstract

The transition from traditional methods like yearbooks and reunions to digital platforms has revolutionized how graduating classes maintain connections. Babcock University exemplifies this evolution through systems like UMIS, exam portals, and SIWES, which address specific academic needs. However, a critical gap persists: a dedicated platform for graduating students to foster lifelong connections, share milestones, and streamline their transition to alumni. While existing solutions like social media and countless other static graduation websites lack tailored features, this project bridges the gap by designing a centralized website to celebrate achievements, enhance communication, and support post-graduation transitions, positioning students as the university’s "final products." Graduating students face fragmented communication, reliance on disparate resources, and inadequate platforms for alumni engagement. This project addresses these challenges by developing a user-friendly web application tailored to their needs. The primary aim is to create a centralized hub for announcements, memory sharing, and alumni networking. Specific objectives include designing a framework for alumni representation, building an intuitive system using modern tools, and evaluating usability through metrics like learnability and user satisfaction. Employing the Agile development model, the project prioritized iterative sprints, stakeholder feedback, and continuous integration. Technologies like Next.js (for server-side rendering), React (dynamic UI), and MongoDB (NoSQL database) ensured scalability and performance. Rigorous testing—unit, integration, and system testing—yielded a 100% success rate across test cases, validating core functionalities such as user authentication, memory uploads, and alumni directory access. The platform’s interface, tested for cross-browser compatibility and responsiveness, demonstrated high usability, with seamless navigation reported in user trials. The graduating class website successfully centralizes communication, preserves memories, and lays the groundwork/foundation for alumni engagement. Future enhancements should integrate engagement metrics (e.g., comments), event management tools, and advanced security protocols. Recommendations also include expanding profile customization, adding search functionality, project centric guide/planning, and developing a help portal to further streamline user experience. By addressing these areas, the platform can evolve into a comprehensive ecosystem, fostering enduring connections and reinforcing Babcock University’s legacy through its graduates.
