SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZATION OF POLY VINYL ALCOHOL GRAFT-ZINC-OXIDE FOR REMOVAL OF LEAD (PB) FROM AQUEOUS SOLUTION
Abstract
The presence of lead (Pb) in wastewater poses significant environmental challenges. This study focuses on synthesizing and characterizing a polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) grafted with zinc oxide (ZnO) for the removal of lead from aqueous solutions. The composite was synthesized using a graft technique and characterized by FTIR, XRF, and UV-Visible spectroscopy. The adsorption experiment confirmed that lead could be removed from the aqueous solution. Furthermore, the results showed successful ZnO grafting onto PVA. Therefore, the composite shows potential application in wastewater treatment.
