Abstract

This study evaluated the relative tolerance of three okra varieties ('Yar Balla', 'Kahon Barewa', and Clemson spineless) to Cucumber Mosaic Virus (CMV) infections in Dutsin-Ma, Nigeria. The experiment was conducted during the 2025 dry season using a completely randomized design. Disease severity, plant growth, and yield parameters were assessed. Results showed significant differences in disease severity and yield reduction among the varieties. Clemson spineless exhibited the lowest disease severity and yield reduction, while 'Yar Balla' was the most susceptible. The study highlights the potential of Clemson spineless as a tolerant variety to CMV, which can inform breeding programs and disease management strategies for okra production in Nigeria.
