THE COMPARATIVE IMPACT OF BITTER LEAF AND JUTE LEAF ETHANOLIC EXTRACT ON NON ESSENTIAL AMINO ACIDS PROFILE OF CLARIS GARIEPINUS FINGERLING

Abstract

The 'presented study was designed to compare the effect of Vernonia amygdalina leaf and Corchorus olitorius leaf ethanolic extract on non essential amino acids concentration on Clarias gariepinus fingerling. The fingerlings were exposed to 0.3 concentration of plant and replicate of 3. The fish muscle was used to determine non essential amino acids concentration at week two and week four periods of study. The qualitative analysis of bitter leaf indicate that steroids and flavonoid hadve mean high and phenol was mean low, while in jute leaf qualitative the highest was alkaloid had mean moderate. Quantitative analysis of bitter leaf Steroids 15.76mg/100g was the highest and lowest was Phenol 5.98mg/100g, while with jute leaf alkaloid was highest 10.87mg/100g and lowest was phenol 2.06mg/100g. Non essential amino acids parameter indicate that glutamate 14.475 of Corchorus olitorius leaf was highly effected than Vernonia amygdalina 14.007, while the least effected parameter was tryptophan 1.037 from bitter leaf extract and least of jute leaf extract was histidine 0.748 other 16 parameters of non essential amino acids of Clarias gariepinus fingerling showed that Vernonia amygdalina leaf has more effect than Corchorus olitorius leaf. This finding call for immediate enlightenment of the general public on the uses of Vernonia amygdalina leaf on aquaculture.
