EVALUATION OF CASHEW (ANACARDIUM OCCIDENTALE) LEAF AND BARK EXTRACTS ON GONADAL SPERM CHARACTERISTICS OF RABBIT BUCKS
Abstract
ABSTRACT
This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of aqueous extracts of cashew leaf (CLE) and cashew bark (CBE) on the reproductive characteristics of rabbit bucks. Thirty-five (35) eight-week-old rabbit bucks were allotted to five treatment groups in a completely randomized design, with seven animals per treatment. Cashew leaves and bark extract were obtained using aqueous extraction method. The extracts were administered orally by gavage at different volumes (3 ml and 6 ml for both CLE and CBE), while the control group received no extract. All animals were maintained on a standard diet containing 16% crude protein and 2305 kcal/kg metabolizable energy. Data were collected on sperm count, motility, viability, morphology, and testicular morphometry, and analyzed by ANOVA at p
