Abstract

Rhesus incompatibility occurs when the mother's blood type is Rh negative and her fetus' blood type is Rh positive. Antibodies from a Rh-negative mother may enter the blood stream of her unborn Rh-positive infant, damaging the red blood cells. Using total enumeration, the sample size for this study was 120 pregnant women who met the inclusion criteria and consented to the study. A well-structured questionnaire was used to obtain information and descriptive statistics was deployed in its analysis. The findings of this study revealed that 69.2% have good knowledge on rhesus incompatibility, 33.3% have good knowledge of the effect of rhesus incompatibility, 63.0% have a positive attitude towards rhesus incompatibility and 61.0% have a positive perception towards rhesus incompatibility.
