ASSESSMENT OF THE ROLE OF WOMEN AGRICULTURAL EXTENSION SERVICES IN THE IMPROVEMENT OF FARMING OUTPUT IN KANO STATE (A CASE STUDY OF KUMBOTSO LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA)

The purpose of this study is to assess the Assessment of the Role of Women Agricultural Extension Services in the Improvement of Farming output in Kumbotso L.G.A, Kano State. The study employs the techniques of questionnaire to collect data from members of Kumbotso L.G.A for analysis aimed at testing the hypothesis. The objective of the study is to identify the relevance and benefits of educating women farmers on adopting modern and scientific techniques of agricultural practices. The methodology involved the use of structural questionnaire to gather primary data on 50 respondents in the research area. The findings of the research revealed that rural formers are faced with numbers of problem in their activities but with the assistance and help of the extension work the problem has being minimize in this regard the extension worker plays vital role to ensure the boosting of production and enable the rural farmers to achieve knowledge on their farming activities especially in Kumbotso of Kano State. One of the major recommendations is that government should provide ways and technique that will lead the rural farmers to follow and participate the teaching of the extension worker, farmers’ cooperative societies should join hands with both the extension workers and rural farmers in pursing assistance from non-governmental organization of national and international level to assist the rural farmers.
