Abstract

ABSTRACT This experiment was carried out to examine the proximate, mineral and anti-nutrient composition of three varieties of millet; TI(Jirani), T2 (Chakti) and T3(Bristle) sourced from ICRISAT in Kano metropolis. To achieve the objectives, the measured samples of the 3 varieties were taken to Animal Science laboratory for proximate analysis and Soil Science laboratory for mineral analysis as well as Biochemistry laboratory at Old campus for anti-nutritional compositiondetermination, all in Bayero University, Kano. Data collected were analyzed using Statistical Analysis System (SAS, (2009) while Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT) was used to separate the means. The results obtained revealed significant differences (p0.05) differences in some parameters (proximate composition)measured among the 3 different varieties. However, significant (p
