THE ROLES OF APPLICATION OF AUDIO-VISUAL AIDS IN TEACHING SOCIAL STUDIES ON SECONDARY SCHOOLS STUDENTS’ ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE IN ONDO WEST LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF ONDO STATE
Abstract
The study investigated the roles of the application of audio-visual aids in teaching social studies on secondary school students’ academic performance in Ondo West Local Government Area of Ondo State. The population for the study comprised Junior Secondary School students in Ondo West LGA, of which a sample of five (5) Junior Secondary schools were randomly selected for the study. The study adopted a descriptive survey research design, and a questionnaire was used as the instrument for data collection. The study assesses the extent of the availability of audio-visual aids in teaching social studies in secondary schools. It also examined the effectiveness of the application of audio-visual aids in teaching social studies. The challenges of the application of audio-visual aids in teaching social studies were also identified and some possible solutions to the challenges in the application of audio-visual aids in teaching social studies in Ondo West Local Government Area of Ondo State were suggested.
