PROBLEMS OF BIOLOGY EDUCATION TEACHER’S ON SYSTEMS THINKING TEACHING APPROACH AND ITS IMPLEMENTATION IN SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN TARAUNI L.G.A KANO
Abstract
ABSTRACT
This study investigate “Problems of Biology Education Teacher’s on systems thinking teaching
Approach and its implementation in Senior Secondary School of Tarauni L.G.A, Kano”. The
research design of the study was descriptive research design. The population of the study
consisted of all public secondary school biology teachers of Tarauni local government, Kano. A
simple random sampling technique was used to obtain a sample of 28 biology teachers. The data
was coded and analyzed using Microsoft-Excel. The main instrument used for data collection
was the questionnaire entitled “Problems of Biology Education Teacher’s on systems thinking
teaching Approach and its implementation in Senior Secondary School of Tarauni L.G.A, Kano”.
Descriptive statistics techniques such as simple frequency and percentages were used. Realibility
index of 0.82 was obtained using cronbach’s alpha. The study suggests that many teachers
struggle with a lack of adequate instructional materials, difficulties in adapting teaching
methods and time constraints were also significant concerns. The study recommended that;
Educational authorities should prioritize the supply of instructional materials and technological
resources to schools to address the shortage and improve teaching effectiveness and to regular
training workshops, seminars, and refresher courses should be introduced to help teachers
develop innovative teaching methods and keep up with evolving educational trends as well as
school administrators and policymakers should work towards creating an enabling environment
by improving curriculum support and offering guidance on best practices for implementing
systems thinking teaching approaches.
