Abstract

ABSTRACT Green synthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) provides an eco-friendly approach to pest management. This study evaluated the toxicity of AgNPs biosynthesised from selected plant parts on Pachycondyla spp. ants. Plant extracts were used to produce AgNPs, and their effects were tested through exposure assays. Mortality rate, behavioural response, and time-dependent toxicity were recorded. Results showed that the biosynthesised AgNPs exhibited significant toxic effects on the ants, with increased mortality over time and observable behavioural disruption. The study demonstrates the potential of green-synthesised AgNPs as an environmentally safer alternative for insect pest control.
