Abstract

ABSTRACT This study examines the public perception and effectiveness of the Imototo programme aired by Okin Radio Station among market women in Offa Local Government. The Imototo programme, which focuses on health education, sanitation, and personal hygiene, is designed to raise awareness and promote healthy practices within the community. Using a quantitative approach, the research involved surveys with market women to assess their understanding, reception, and behavioural changes resulting from the programme. The findings reveal that a majority of the respondents perceive the programme positively, considering it informative and relevant to their daily lives. However, the study identifies challenges such as limited accessibility to radio sets and time constraints as barriers to full participation. Overall, the programme was found to be effective in enhancing health awareness, though there is a need for more targeted outreach and increased frequency to sustain its impact. Recommendations include extending the reach of the programme through alternative media platforms and incorporating interactive segments to engage the audience more effectively.
