DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF A SMART HYBRID CONTROLLED HOME AUTOMATION SYSTEM
Abstract
Automation is a pivotal aspect of modern discussions, profoundly shaping our everyday activities. Its appeal lies in its ability to streamline tasks, boost efficiency, and minimize errors caused by human oversight. In today’s technology-driven world, our homes are becoming smarter i.e. moving from convectional switches to modern control interfaces. This project explores a new Smart Hybrid controlled Home Automation System aimed at making life easier and more comfortable. Instead of traditional switches, this system uses voice command and in-app keypad to control household devices like fan, bulbs, Gates, etc. It is designed for simplicity, accessibility, especially helpful for older adults or those with mobility challenges. All that the user needs are an Android smartphone, which is present in almost everybody's hand nowadays, and a control circuit. The control circuit consists of a Wi-Fi microcontroller, which processes the user’s commands and control the switching of devices. The connection between the Wi-Fi microcontroller and the smartphone is established via the inbuilt Wi-Fi module embedded in the microcontroller, a commonly used technology for transmitting data and enabling connectivity.
