Abstract

Abstract The rapid urbanization and increasing waste generation pose significant challenges to sustainable waste management systems worldwide. This project presents the development and implementation of a smart dustbin integrated with ultrasonic sensors, a microcontroller (NodeMCU), and Wi-Fi connectivity to enable real-time waste level monitoring. The system detects fill levels, transmits data wirelessly to a cloud platform, and triggers notifications to waste management authorities when the bin reaches capacity. The implementation aims to optimize waste collection routes, reduce operational costs, and contribute to cleaner urban environments. Testing results demonstrate high accuracy, reliable data transmission, and effective alerting, underscoring the system’s potential to enhance smart city infrastructure.
