CONTRIBUTION OF BROADCAST MEDIA TOWARDS THE FIGHT AGAINST RAPE IN NIGERIA: A STUDY OF OGWASHI-UKU IN DELTA STATE.

ABSTRACT
This study surveyed contribution of the broadcast media towards the fight against rape in Nigeria. The study made use of the survey research. The study constituted of 290 respondents who are residents of Ogwashi-Uku Metropolis. The primary instrument used for data collection was the questionnaire. Data collected were analyzed and placed in tables using simple percentage. The findings of the study revealed that, the media is up to date in its reports in the society, that he media has given priority to rape reports and reports of related issues have an influence on the audience. The study recommended that women should become active in the fight against violence (rape) against women, government and non-governmental organizations should sponsor media campaigns in the bid to eradicate violence (rape) against women.
