DETERMINATION OF ANTIOXIDANT VITAMINS (A, C AND E) COMPOSITION OF THREE BRANDS OF FRUIT JUICE MARKETED IN AKWA IBOM STATE
Abstract
ABSTRACT
This study aimed to determine antioxidant vitamins (A, C and E) in three selected fruit juices (watermelon, orange and grape) and control (Exotic juice). Spectrophotometric methods were employed for the analysis. The results showed that grape juice had the highest Vitamin C content (466.07 ¬+ 2.30 mg/100ml), while watermelon juice had the highest vitamin. A content (5.58 + 0.14 mg/100 ml). Watermelon juice had a significantly amount of vitamin A (2.57 + 0.14 mg/100ml). The Exotic Juice (control) had the lowest levels of all three vitamins. The juices have high antioxidant potentials necessary for boosting body immunity that need to be optimized for specific health benefit.
