EFFECT OF SUBSIDY REMOVAL ON STANDARD OF LIVING OF STUDENTS IN ADEYEMI FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF EDUCATION, ONDO

The removal of fiel subsidies in Nigeria is a complex and mulifaceted issue with implications for the economic, social, and political fabrie of the nation. Therefore, this study sought to hirvestigate the effects of subsidy removal on standard of living ofstudents in Adeyemi Federal University Four research questions are fromed to answer the topie and one hundred (100) social studies students of Adeyemi Federal University are used in administoring the questionnaire. The one hundred Social Studies students of Adeyemi Federal University of Fducution, Ondo are selected from Part Ill and IV degree students and Part II and III NCE students are the respondents. Findings of this study indicaled that fuel subsidy removal have significant effeet an the cosl of education, it also has significant effect on the increase in house rent feost of living, it also have offects an increase in transportation cost to school; and removal of fuelsubsidy have significunt effect on the increase of prices of gonds and services. Based on the findings of the study the following recommendutions were made; governmtent should create an enabling envtronment to engender privale testor's for the purpose of improving the local refining capacity to meet the ever increasing local demand of petruleum produets and indeed for exportation purpose. Nigerian government should build more refineries thmugh PPP while effort should also be made to ensure praper maintenance, the strengthening of the flyht against corruption and the establishment ofa regulatory framework to protect citizens as necessary measures to increared capacity utilization on the existing refineries to stem the tide of petroleam products importation lo improve the poor state Nigeria's ecoramy and society.
