HISTORY AND DEVELOPMENT OF ADABA FM STATION, ONDO STATE. 2020-2022

This study examined the history and development of Adaba FM radio station in Ondo State, Nigeria, from its establishment in 2008 to its evolution in the contemporary media landscape. The research reviewed the origins of radio broadcasting in Nigeria, highlighting the emergence of indigenous stations and emphasizing the vital role of radio as a tool for information dissemination, education, and entertainment, especially in rural communities. Through historical research design and analysis of secondary data, the study explored Adaba FM’s founding years, expansion phase, consolidation efforts, and modernization. The findings revealed that Adaba FM has made significant impact on the social, cultural, political, and economic development of Ondo State. The station has served as a custodian of indigenous languages, a platform for civic participation, and a catalyst for local economic growth. However, the study also identified challenges confronting the station, including limited resources, staffing issues, technological constraints, and increasing competition from modern digital media. The study concludes that for Adaba FM to sustain its relevance, it must continue to innovate and adapt to evolving media realities while preserving its commitment to cultural preservation and community empowerment.
