PERFORMANCE EVALUATION OF A SOLAR COOKER BOX USING ELEPHANT GRASS AND DOUM PALM AS AN INSULATOR

ABSTRACT
This research fucuses on designing fabricating and evaluating a solar box cooker utilizing locally abundant dump palm and elephant grass as insulation materials. The primary objective is to assess the thermal conductivity and cooking performance of the fabricated cooker in real world. Comparative analysis has been conducted against the tradition cooking method. Further a sustainable cooking alternative, reducing reliance on fossil fuels and mitigating environmental impact. However, their effectiveness hinges on efficient insulation. This study evaluates key parameters assessed include maximum internal temperature 110°c, cooking times for 10,800s, and overall energy efficiency of 1.2%. The findings aim to determine the suitability of these natural materials for enhancing solar cooker performance, promoting sustainable and cost-effective cooking solutions.
