AN EXAMINATION OF THE IMPACT OF E-GOVERNANCE ON SERVICE DELIVERY IN ADAMAWA STATE: A CASE STUDY OF YOLA NORTH LOCAL GOVERNMENT COUNCIL

ABSTRACT This project titled “An examination of the impact of e-governance on service delivery in Adamawa state: a case study of Yola North local government council”. the objective is to; examine the current state of E-governance in Yola north local government council, investigate the impact of E-governance on public service delivery in Yola north local government council, and identify the challenges of E-governance in Yola north local government council. For this study design and methodology is based on quantitative descriptive survey. The target population of this study were 1,672 and sample size was 399 which was drawn using taro Yamani formula. The study used both primary and secondary source of data, the data were sourced through the use of questionnaires. In this research, simple percentage were employed to compute the questionnaires and chi-square was used to test the hypothesis. The research found out that there are challenges facing E-governance implementation in Adamawa state, inadequate commitment to implementation of E-governance by political leaders contributed to low impact of e-governance on service delivery in Yola north local government area, and inadequate infrastructures affect e-governance implementation in Yola north local government council. Therefore, the research conclude and recommends that; Yola north local government should prioritize E-governance and ensure that it is aligned with their overall development goals and objectives, measures should be taken to promote transparency and accountability in government operations and citizens should be engaged in the design and implementation of E-governance initiatives to ensure that needs and priorities are responsive to the needs of citizens and deliver service that are relevant and effective
