INFLUENCE OF INTERPERSONAL COMMUNICATION ON STUDENTS ANTI SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR A CASE OF DRUG ABUSE IN UNIDEL (UNIVERSITY OF DELTA)

Abstract This project work examined the Influence of Interpersonal Communication on Student’s Anti-Social Behavior using UNIDEL (University of Delta).This study is essentially anchored on Social Development Theory. The objectives of this study are to establish the relationship between interpersonal communication among peers and manifestation of anti social behaviors; To determine if interpersonal communication increase the intake of Indian hemp among peers in UNIDEL and to find out whether manifestation of drug abuse by students is caused by interpersonal communication. The sample size of 400 was drawn for the study. Survey research design was applied and the researcher used simple percentage method of data analysis in analyzing the data. From the analysis, it was found that there is significant relationship between interpersonal communication among peers and manifestation of anti social behaviors of students; Interpersonal communication among peers increases the intake of Indian hemp and manifestation of drug abuse by students is been caused by interpersonal communication. On the basis of the above principal findings, it was suggested that there should be counsellors in our schools, in order to assist students who exhibit antisocial behaviours or those at risk, so that they can live normal life.
