EAR DIMENSIONS AND ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE: NEXUS BETWEEN HEARING AND INTELLIGENCE.

Abstract

This study investigated the relationship between external ear dimensions and academic performance among students of Northwest University, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences. A total of 279 students participated in the study, with data collected on ear height, ear width, and cumulative grade point average (CGPA). The analysis involved descriptive statistics, independent samples t-tests and correlation analysis, The results showed that the average ear height and width were 53.2 mm and 32.4 mm, respectively. A significant difference was observed between male and female students in ear height, but no such difference was found in ear width. Despite these variations, no significant correlation was found between ear dimensions and academic performance, These findings suggest that while ear dimensions exhibit sexual dimorphism, they do not serve as indicators of academic success. This study contributes to the growing body of anthropometric research and reinforces the need to explore other potential factors influencing academic performance. Future studies may consider a broader range of physiological and cognitive variables to gain deeper insights into the determinants of academic achievement.
