EFFECT OF MELOTHRIA SPHAEROCARPA AND SESAMUM INDICUM LEAF AND OIL EXTRACTS ON ANTIBIOTIC-RESISTANT BACTERIA
Abstract
This study investigated the phytochemical, proximate, and antimicrobial properties of Melothria sphaerocarpa (Sample 1) and Sesamum indicum (Sample 2). The results showed that both samples contain various bioactive compounds, including alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, phenolics, and tannins. Sample 2 had higher levels of alkaloids and saponins, while Sample 1 had higher flavonoid content, indicating stronger antioxidant potential. The proximate analysis revealed that Sample 2 was a richer source of energy and protein, while Sample 1 was This are the recommendations Needed for this study, they are as follows
Further Phytochemical Analysis: Conduct more detailed phytochemical analysis to identify and isolate specific bioactive compounds responsible for the observed antimicrobial and antioxidant activities.
in Vivo Studies: Conduct in vivo studies to evaluate the therapeutic potential of Melothria sphaerocarpa and Sesamum indicum extracts in animal models.
Antimicrobial Studies: Conduct further antimicrobial studies to evaluate the efficacy of the extracts against a broader range of microorganisms, including fungi and viruses.
Antibiotic Resistance Studies: Investigate the potential of Melothria sphaerocarpa and Sesamum indicum extracts to combat antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
Toxicity Studies: Conduct toxicity studies to evaluate the safety of Melothria sphaerocarpa and Sesamum indicum extracts for human consumption.
