AN EVALUATION OF THE ROLE OF ACTION AID INTERNATIONAL IN PEACE BUILDING IN MAIDUGURI

This study assesses the Role of Action Aid International in Peace Building in Maiduguri. two (2) objectives and two research questions were used in the study. Survey research method was adopted and used forthis study. The target is a group of elements or individuals as the casemay be, who share similar characteristics. The instrument used in thisstudy was a self-developed questionnaire. The data collection were analyzed using frequency counts and its equivalent percentage score to describe the demographic information and answered research questions and was presented in table form for discussion. The result showed that majority of responded consolidating democracy under conflicts in Nigeria, the respondents, how effective have Action Aid Internationalbeen in peace building in Maiduguri, what is the way forward for Action Aid International in the peace building campaign, the findings underscore the indispensable role of NGOs in rebuilding conflict-ridden societies like Maiduguri. While Action Aid International has achieved notable successes, the recurring challenges indicate the need for enhanced governmental andcommunity support. The study recommended that local communities should be equipped with tools and training to identify and report conflict triggers.
