PROXIMATE COMPOSITION AND ELEMENTAL ANALYSIS OF CRUDE EXTRACT OF RUBBER VINE

Cryptostegia grandiflora is a tropical plant known for its medicinal properties. In this study, the
proximate and elemental composition of the crude extract of Cryptostegia grandiflora was
analyzed. The proximate composition analysis showed that the extract contained moisture, ash,
and crude fat, while the elemental composition analysis revealed the presence of essential nutrients
such as potassium, calcium, and magnesium. These findings suggest that the crude extract of
Cryptostegia grandiflora has potential as a source of essential nutrients and could be used in the
development of pharmaceutical and nutraceutical products.
The proximate composition analysis of the crude extract of Cryptostegia grandiflora revealed that
it contained approximately 11.80% moisture, 8.50% ash, 2.0% crude fat, 17.15% crude protein,
and 31% carbohydrates. These values indicate that the extract is rich in moisture and ash, and
contains a moderate amount of crude fat, protein, and carbohydrates.
The elemental composition analysis of the crude extract of Cryptostegia grandiflora showed that
it contained significant amounts of essential nutrients such as potassium (2.5%), calcium (2.23%),
magnesium (2.68%), Sodium (1.00%) and Chloride 1.0%. These findings suggest that the extract
could be a potential source of essential nutrients and minerals for human consumption.
