STRATEGIES AND CHALLENGES OF IMPLEMENTING LIBRARY AUTOMATION SYSTEM IN SELECTED ACADEMIC LIBRARIES IN KWARA STATE
Abstract
ABSTRACT
This research examined the strategies and challenges of implementing library automation system in selected Academic Libraries in Kwara State. The specific objectives were to determine the automation status of academic libraries in selected academic libraries in Kwara State, Nigeria, to ascertain the strategies for implementing library automation in selected academic libraries in Kwara State, to find out the type of library automation system in the selected academic libraries in Kwara State, to analyze benefits associated with the use of automated library system in selected academic libraries in Kwara State, to identify the challenges of library automation in selected academic libraries in Kwara State; and to determine the measures that could be taken to speed up the automation process of library services in selected academic libraries in Kwara State. Total enumerations of seventy three (73) questionnaires were distributed and was completely returned and analyzed for this research. The descriptive survey method was adopted for this study and it was conducted based on guided objectives of the study which were also the research questions for the study.
