Abstract
ABSTRACT
The study is aimed at evaluating the relationship between social media use and students’ academic
performance. To achieve the objective of this study, the researcher adopted the survey method as the
research design and randomly sampled 385 respondents from the population of the study. The
questionnaire was used as instrument to collect primary data. The data collected were subjected to
empirical analyses using tables and simple percentages. Based on the data analyzed, the study found
among other things that a great number of the students of Delta State University, Abraka make use of
social networks than in reading their books. It was therefore found that social networking has
negatively impacted on the students’ academic performance. The study, thus recommended, among
others that social networking site should be expanded and new pages should be created to enhance
academic performance.
