The aim of this study is to explore the potential of rice straw as a sustainable alternative compost substrate for cultivating Agaricus bisporus (button mushroom), given the increasing demand for environmentally friendly and cost-effective farming practices. Mushrooms, particularly Agaricus bisporus (button mushroom), are a valuable and globally significant crop. Agaricus bisporus accounts for the largest share of mushroom production worldwide due to its high demand in the food industry and its adaptability to diverse growing conditions. Materials: Rice straw is used as the primary substrate for composting. Additional materials, such as nitrogen sources (e.g., chicken manure or urea) and other organic additives (e.g., gypsum), are incorporated to optimize the composting process. The results of the study assessing the yield response of Agaricus bisporus cultivated on rice straw-based compost are presented and discussed. The findings are organized according to key metrics, including compost quality, mushroom growth parameters, and yield. Statistical analyses are used to interpret the significance of the results and draw conclusions about the effectiveness of different compost formulations.
