Abstract

This project presents the design and implementation of a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Safe box, a secure electronic storage system that integrates embedded hardware and software components for enhanced access control and real-time monitoring. The system employs an Arduino Uno (ATmega328P) microcontroller as the central processing unit, an MFRC522 RFID module for user authentication, a SIM800L GSM module for remote alert notifications, and a DC geared motor for mechanical locking and unlocking. Additional components, including limit switches, a buzzer, an LCD display, and a Li-ion battery system with a Battery Management System (BMS), were integrated to ensure reliability, user feedback, and continuous operation during power interruptions. During implementation, the system successfully verified authorized RFID tags, denied unauthorized access, and sent SMS alerts for both authorized and unauthorized activities. Power calculations and testing confirmed an average total consumption of 13 W, with a battery backup duration of approximately 3.5 hours under mixed load conditions. The DC motor achieved an efficiency of 85%, and the RFID authentication recorded a 100% success rate during twenty test trials. The results demonstrate that the developed RFID Safe box provides secure, efficient, and cost-effective access control, making it suitable for homes, offices, and small-scale commercial applications. The system effectively combines mechanical safety with electronic intelligence, offering a reliable and scalable approach to modern secure storage solutions.
