Abstract

This study investigates the role of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in combating corruption in Nigeria, with a focus on its effectiveness, challenges, and contributions to national development. Corruption remains one of the most persistent obstacles to Nigeria’s progress, undermining economic growth, public trust, governance, and institutional stability. Since its establishment in 2003, the EFCC has served as a major anti-corruption agency mandated to prevent, investigate, and prosecute financial and economic crimes such as money laundering, embezzlement, fraud, bribery, and misuse of public funds.
