Abstract

ABSTRACT This study conducts a comparative analysis of the effects of rice husk and chemical fertilizer on the growth and development of spinach radish (Raphanus sativus). A randomized complete block design (RCBD) experiment was conducted with three treatments: control (no fertilizer), rice husk, and chemical fertilizer. Each treatment was replicated three times. The results show that the rice husk treatment significantly enhanced Leaf length, number of leaves, stem thickness. The rice husk treatment group has the highest fiber and protein content. The NPK fertilizer treatment group has the highest ash and carbohydrate content. The control group has relatively consistent values across all parameters. The differences in nutritional content between the treatment groups can be attributed to the unique properties of each treatment. The rice husk treatment's high fiber and protein content may be due to the rice husk's ability to retain moisture and nutrients in the soil. The NPK fertilizer treatment's high ash and carbohydrate content may be due to the fertilizer's high mineral content and ability to promote plant growth. Soil analysis revealed that the rice husk treatment increased soil pH, nutrient content, and organic matter, indicating its potential as a sustainable and eco-friendly alternative to chemical fertilizers. The study highlights the benefits of integrating rice husk into fertilizer management practices for spinach radish cultivation, providing a valuable insight into sustainable agricultural practices.
