Abstract

ABSTRACT This study investigated the mass media knowledge and awareness of female harassment in the workplace; a case study of Delta State Polytechnic Ogwashi-Uku. The study adopted the survey research design with questionnaire as the main tool. The sample size of this research is made up of Two hundred and fifty (250) female respondents which is 50 percent of the total population (500) of the female staff. The study is anchored on the social learning theory proposed by Albert Bandura and The Agenda setting theory formulated by Cohen. This study highlights several forms of harassments as well as proffering suggestions to curb its existence in society. Findings of the study revealed that female harassment in Delta State Polytechnic is very minimal but notable is the significant absence of sexual harassment as indicated by respondents. The study concludes that there is no significant case of harassment within the school body. Based on the findings, the study recommends that the mass media embarks on campaigns and educational initiatives to sensitize and create national awareness against female harassment among others.
