GEOCHEMICAL ANALYSIS OF SEDIMENTS OF SOUTHERN PART OF RIVER KADUNA
Abstract
ABSTRACT
This research conducted involved a chemical analysis of stream sediment samples. The results obtained revealed that it has an average composition primarily made up of silion dioxide, aluminium oxide, potassium oxide, and other compounds in smaller percentages. The samples also contained sulfur trioxide, phosphorus pentoxide, sodium oxide, calcium oxide, titanium dioxide, manganese monoxide and ferric oxide. Additionally, there is high percentage of silicon dioxide which indicates a significance presence of quartz and silicate minerals in the sediment
abundant compound indicates the contribution of clay minerals and feldspar to the sediment composition. The presence of trace elements such as sulfur trioxide, phosphorus pentoxide, potassium oxide, sodium oxide, calcium oxide, titanium dioxide, manganese monoxide and ferric oxide indicates the diverse mineralogical composition of the sediments. This comprehensive analysis provides valuable information about the composition of the samples, which can be further studied for various applications.
