Abstract

This research work was carried out to determine the effects of motivation on employee job performance. Two research questions and two null hypotheses were used for the study. The study reviewed works of other authors that are related to the present study. Descriptive survey design was used to carry out the study and the study was carried out in two selected business organisations in Asaba, Delta State. The population of the study was made up of 49 employees. A structured questionnaire was used to collect data for the study. While Mean and Standard Deviation was used to answer research questions, ttest statistics was used to test the null hypotheses. Based on the analysis of data collectedfor the study, the study found that motivation is a very important function of management which should not be ignored. The study further recommended among other things that managers of business organisations should adequately motivate employees in order to get the best from them.
