Abstract

The persistent deficiency in electricity supply in Nigeria has significantly hindered the national economy, driving a high demand for alternative power sources such as generators, which contribute to environmental pollution and noise. To address these challenges, this project focuses on the design and construction of a 2kVA modified inverter system. The system integrates key components including a transformer, MOSFETs, a heat sink, and a microcontroller, with the design successfully simulated using Proteus software. The proposed inverter offers an efficient alternative for generating AC power by converting DC from battery systems or solar panels to meet household energy needs. Testing over different load ranges demonstrated that the system can reliably supply 800W loads for 0.9 hours and 100W loads for up to 7.2 hours. The results confirm that the inverter is stable, reliable, and well-suited for various applications, providing a cleaner, quieter, and more sustainable power solution for Nigerian households.
