Abstract

This research work was designed to assesses the livelihood effects of the Boko Haram insurgency on internally displaced persons at Wulari Jerusalem Camp in Maiduguri. The combined-methods approach has indicated that education, agriculture, and personal business activities are highly affected among IDPs. Oral interview was carried out, several books were consulted and also, from the findings, the results of the survey are that 60% of the respondents experienced reduced access to basic needs and, thus, lived a deteriorated lifestyle. The government's response is found to be grossly inadequate as 91.6% of the respondents expressed dissatisfaction. Non-governmental organizations are found to be the main contributors towards mitigating the crisis. It advocates for comprehensive interventions in the educational, agricultural, and business sectors, an appropriate response by the government, and involvement with NGOs to realize lasting recovery and resilience among IDPs.
