AN EVALUATION OF UMYU SECURITY DIVISION IN CONVERTING INSECURITY FROM (2013 – 2023)
Abstract
The aims of the study is to investigate the effectiveness of the Umaru Musa Yar'adua University (UMYU) Security Division in converting insecurity on campus from 2013 to 2023. The study aims to assess the security measures implemented by the university, identify the challenges faced by the security division, and determine the impact of the security division's efforts on reducing insecurity on campus. A mixed-methods approach was employed, combining both quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis methods. Data were collected through surveys, interviews, and observations, and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The study found that the UMYU Security Division has implemented various security measures, including the deployment of security personnel, installation of CCTV cameras, and implementation of access control measures. However, the study also identified several challenges faced by the security division, including inadequate funding, insufficient personnel, and limited technological resources. Despite these challenges, the study found that the efforts of the UMYU Security Division have led to a significant reduction in insecurity on campus. The study recommends that the university management provide adequate funding and resources to the security division, and that the security division continue to implement effective security measures to ensure the safety and security of students, staff, and faculty.
