IMPACT OF NEGOTIATION IN CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT MANAGEMENT IN BIDA

This project explores the role of negotiation in the construction industry, emphasizing its impact on contract management, negotiation strategies, and the need for greater awareness of its importance. Utilizing a quantitative research approach, data was collected through structured questionnaires targeting professionals across the industry, including project managers, architects, and civil engineers. The data was analyzed using Mean Item Score (MIS) and the Relative Strength Index (RSI) to evaluate the effectiveness of negotiation in various aspects of construction project management. To access the Impact of negotiation in Construction Contract Management according to the data gotten, Cost management was ranked first (1st), while Enhancement Quality Control was ranked second (2nd), then Improved Decision-making was ranked third (3rd). The results indicate that negotiation plays a pivotal role in enhancing cost control, time management, quality assurance, and decision-making processes. Key negotiation strategies identified include interest-based negotiation ranked first (1st), adopting Project management softwares which was ranked second d(2nd), and the use of financial modeling tools which was ranked third (3rd). The study also underscores the necessity for professional development through training programs, workshops, and mentorship initiatives aimed at strengthening negotiation competencies among construction professionals. In conclusion, the research affirms that negotiation is critical for achieving successful project outcomes and recommends further investigation into advanced tools and techniques to optimize negotiation practices within the construction industry.
