Abstract

This study investigates the bacteriological characteristics of soil collected from selected dumpsites. Dumpsites serve as reservoirs of organic waste and provide a favorable environment for microbial growth, including pathogenic bacteria. Soil samples were collected and analyzed using standard microbiological techniques to determine total bacterial count and identify bacterial species present. The results revealed a high microbial load, including the presence of potentially harmful bacteria. The findings highlight the public health and environmental risks associated with improper waste disposal. The study recommends improved waste management practices and regular monitoring of dumpsite environments.
