ASUP CONFERENCE MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM
Abstract
The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) annual conference is a pivotal event for knowledge sharing and collaboration among scholars. However, its management has historically been hampered by a reliance on manual processes, leading to significant challenges including inefficient paper submission and review, poor communication, data redundancy, and difficulties in generating timely reports. These inefficiencies necessitated an automated solution to streamline the entire conference workflow.
This project aimed to design, develop, and implement a Conference Management Information System (ASUP-CMIS) to address these shortcomings. The system was developed using a structured methodology, employing HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for the front-end user interface, PHP with the Laravel framework for the server-side application logic, and MySQL for robust database management. The system architecture was designed to cater to four primary user roles: Authors, Reviewers, Administrators, and the Secretariat.
The successful implementation of the ASUP-CMIS demonstrates that it effectively automates the core processes of conference management. It eliminates the bottlenecks of the manual system, enhances communication between stakeholders, ensures data integrity, and provides administrators with valuable insights for decision-making. It is therefore recommended that ASUP adopts this system to significantly improve the efficiency, scalability, and overall experience of its future conferences
