SURVEY OF PATIENT SATISFACTION WITH OBSTETRIC ULTRASOUND SERVICE AT UMARU SHEHU ULTRA MODERN HOSPITAL MAIDUGURI, BORNO STATE, NIGERIA
Abstract
TITLE: Survey of patient satisfaction with obstetric ultrasound service at Umaru shehu ultra-Modern Hospital,Maiduguri, Borno state, Nigeria.
OBJECTIVES: To access patient's level of satisfaction with obstetric ultrasound services in Umaru shehu ultra-modern hospital. To identify the factors that influence patient satisfaction with obstetric ultrasound services
METHOD: A mixed design (structured closed and open) questionnaire was used for the study, data was collected using a self-completion questionnaire from the patients who have undergone obstetric ultrasound at ummaru shehu ultra-modern hospital. The questionnaire contained 28 items closed ended. The sample size is 200. Data was analyzed using SPSS version 25.0, using frequencies and percentages.
RESULT: The result of the study shows that higher percentage of patients were satisfied in areas such as (98% )hygiene in the waiting area , (95% )receptionist are nice and helpful ,(85.5%)friendliness of the sonographer, with a greater percentage showing poor satisfaction in areas such as (52%) toilets, (63.5%) access to water, and (77.5%) patient waiting time.
CONCLUSION: The study indicates high level of patient satisfaction with obstetric ultrasound services in Umaru shehu ultra-modern hospital. However there is need for the department to optimize their patient waiting time, provide access to water and improve on the hygiene of the toilet.
