Abstract
The study investigated the Chemistry Techers’ Perception on Introduction of Green
Chemistry into Senior Secondary School Curriculum in Katsina Metropolis. Two research
questions were asked and one null hypotheses was formulated and tested to guide the study.
The study adopted descriptive survey research design. The population of the study comprises
of seventy (70) teachers. Six (6) schools were randomly selected from the twelve (12) public
senior secondary schools to respond to questionnaire. There are (21) Chemistry teacher from
the six (6) selected school in which all are to respond to teachers questionnaire designed to
obtain information. Green Chemistry Questionnaire (CTPIGCQ) as the instrument for data
collection was used as the instrument for data collection. Findings indicated the difference in
means is statistically significant. This suggests that female teachers performed significantly
better than male teachers respectively. Study recommend that the government and
educational stakeholders should organize regular, gender-sensitive workshops and training
sessions to equip all chemistry teachers with the necessary knowledge, skills, and confidence
to effectively integrate green chemistry concepts into the curriculum and finally Schools
should be provided with adequate teaching materials, including textbooks, laboratory
equipment, and practical guides on green chemistry, to support teachers in implementing the
curriculum. These resources should cater to diverse teaching styles and experiences to
enhance understanding and engagement among both male and female teachers.
