PRODUCTION AND CHEMICAL CHARACTERIZATION OF ETHANOL GEL-FUEL USING EGGSHELL (AN ALTERNATIVE ENERGY SOURCE FOR COOKING)
Abstract
Ethanol gel-fuel has several advantages over solid fuel briquettes and paraffin because it is renewable, and it does not have smoky combustion, does not cause soot, has a safety advantage in terms of distribution and volatility. This study aims to characterize ethanol gel-fuel production with variation of optimizing performance on the ethanol gel stove. This experiment was conducted by experimental process and started with ethanol gel making process with variation of composition, Characterization of ethanol gel-fuel is done by testing the calorific value, phsical parameters in the observation of color, taste, combustion and odor, and the FTIR anlysis was also carried out. And the result shows that ethanol gel-fuel was successfully produced and can be applied as an alternative source of light and heat energy for domestic popurses.Application of ethanol gel-fuel is done on the ethanol gel stove.
