Abstract

The study examined the relationship between flexible work arrangements (FWAs) and job satisfaction in ABC Logistics Company, Ibadan. The study sought to determine whether the implementation of flexible work schedules has a significant effect on the job satisfaction of employees in the logistics sector. With the growing trend of remote and flexible working arrangements, especially in post-pandemic times, understanding how these arrangements influence employee satisfaction is crucial for organisations seeking to improve workforce productivity and retention. The research also aimed to highlight any potential disparities in job satisfaction across different demographics, such as age, gender, and tenure within the company. The study utilized a quantitative research design, distributing eighty six (86) questionnaires to employees of ABC Logistics. The four point likert scale (Strongly Agree, Agree, Strongly Disagree, Disagree) was used to capture data on employees’ perceptions of flexible work arrangements, their satisfaction levels, and demographic information. Data were analyzed using two statistical methods: ANOVA and Chi-square tests. ANOVA was applied to assess the differences in job satisfaction among employees who engage in various types of flexible work arrangements (e.g., telecommuting, compressed work weeks, flexible hours), while the Chisquare test was used to determine the significance of associations between job satisfaction and demographic variables such as age, gender, and years of service. Findings from the ANOVA analysis indicated significant differences in job satisfaction levels across different types of flexible work arrangements, with employees enjoying greater satisfaction in jobs offering more autonomy in work hours and locations, While, the Chi-square test revealed that demographic factors such as age (26-35) and years (1-3) of service reported high level of Job Satisfaction when adopting flexible work arrangements. The research contribute valuable insights into the importance of flexible work arrangements in enhancing job satisfaction in the Logistic workplace. The findings suggests that ABC Logistics, and similar organizations, could benefit from implementing more flexible work policies tailored to the needs of different employee demographics. These findings also provide a foundation for future studies exploring how specific elements of flexible work affect employee engagement and organizational performance, offering a practical framework for companies aiming to enhance employee well-being and productivity
