Abstract

ABSTRACT Infertility affects approximately 8-12% of couples worldwide, with various factors contributing to this condition. Recent studies suggest a potential link between coagulation abnormalities and fertility issues. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between clotting profiles and infertility in women in Ondo University of Medical Science, Ondo State Nigeria. A case-control study was conducted involving 50 women diagnosed with infertility (test group) and 50 fertile women (control group). Prothrombin Time (PT) and Activated Partial Thromboplastin Time (APTT) were determined using the Lee and White method (AGAPE) kits for all participants. The study also examined associations between clotting profiles and type of infertility (primary vs secondary) as well as age. Significant differences were observed in both PT and APTT between infertile and fertile women. The mean PT for infertile women was 15.72 ± 3.36 seconds compared to 13.10 ± 1.64 seconds in fertile women (p
