ASSESSMENT OF E-LIBRARY RESOURCES AND SERVICES IN COLLEGES OF EDUCATION LIBRARIES, CROSS RIVER STATE, NIGERIA
Abstract
Data were collected through a structured questionnaire titled: “Assessment of E-library Resources and Services in Colleges of Education Libraries, Cross River State. which was administered to the respondents (both staff and students) in Colleges of Education libraries in Cross River State. The data gathered from the respondents through questionnaire were analyzed using frequency tables and simple percentages with the aid of statistical package for social sciences (SPSS) version 22. The study findings revealed different types of E-resources available in colleges of education library in Cross River State where 75% of library staff agree to the availability of E-books and 25% of library staff disagree to the availability of E-books. Aligning with these findings, 91.4% of the registered students agreed to the accessibility of E-books and 8.6% disagreed to the accessibility of E-books. In the view of the research findings, the research recommended that academic libraries should conduct a thorough assessment of the current e-resources available to identify gaps and areas for improvement, and implement a comprehensive e-resource acquisition strategy to ensure that Colleges of Education libraries have access to a wide range of high-quality electronic resources and services to enhance users’ satisfaction.
