INTERACTION BETWEEN SOCIAL MEDIA AND YELLOW JOURNALISM AMONG JOURNALIST
Abstract
this study investigated the interaction between social media and yellow journalism among journalists in Edo State. The extent to which social media on-line reporting has affected the credibility of journalism in this interaction was its focus. the objectives were ascertain how news reporting is conducted online: know why online reporters are not interested in observing journalistic ethics which abhors yellow journalism and find out how on-line reporting can fuse into the mainstream culture of news reporting. Fro the above objectives, the following research questios were posed to guide the study: How has social media reporting affected the credibility of journalism as a career in interacting with Yellow Journalism? why social media reporters post stories without verifying their sources? To what extent do social media reporters post observe ethical code in journalism?
