Abstract

this study was designed to assess sources of fund and the performance of NGOs at providing succour to Victims of armed Militia in Benue State. Benue State has experienced persistent attacks by armed militia groups, particularly herdsmen-farmer clashes, leading to a dire humanitarian situation. These violent incidents have resulted in the displacement of over 1.9 million people in Benue State as of 2023, making it one of the states with the highest number of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Nigeria (International Organization for Migration [IOM], 2023). Many of these victims live in squalid conditions in overcrowded IDP camps with limited access to food, water, shelter, and health services. The Nigerian government, constrained by limited resources and bureaucratic delays, has often been unable to adequately meet the needs of these victims, thereby necessitating the intervention of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs).
