THE IMPACT OF TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT ON EMPLOYEE PERFORMANCE. (A CASE STUDY OF NIGERIAN AGIP OIL COMPANY PORT HARCOURT)
Abstract
This role of employee training and development in the social and economic advancement of an organization cannot be over emphasized. Most managers strongly support employee development and training since the lower supply organization therefore look for way. of improving the quality of their outputs. This therefore brings into focus the importance and need for employee training and development, as a means of improving job performance of the employee to enhance the efficient attainment of organization goals. Performances are under test these days. Due to the nature of our economy, many companies have failed in their operations, while other cannot envisage success. Therefore because of these development in the country, management needs to invest in the training of its employees. So employee training and development is very important to the survival of any organization. If the training of employees in an organization is properly handed, this will ensure high productivity of the workers. In attempting to do so, and or convenience purpose, this work was divided into five chapters. Chapter one dealt with the introduction of the study which gives the general background of the study, include statement of problem, purpose of the study/objective, research hypothesis, scope of the study, significant of the study, limitation of the study, definition of terms and references. Chapter two provide an intensive review of related literature on the subject, while the third chapter dealt with the research design and data collection as well as data analysis techniques. Chapter four treated the presentation and analysis of research findings, including the test of hypothesis. Chapter five stated the summary of findings, conclusion and recommendation on the issues raised in this research. However, based on the findings, a number of recommendations has been made which if implemented would help most organizations to grow.
