Abstract

Viscosity of a fluid is defined as a quantitative measure of a fluids resistance to flow. Viscosity is a thermodynamic variable varying as a function of pressure and temperature, it is generally a property of all fluids, which includes liquids and gases. The Viscosity of some fluids (groundnut oil, coconut oil and coconut water) was determined using viscometer (NDJ-5S). The aim of this project is to show how changes in temperature affect the Viscosity of samples. The results obtained from the study shows that the Viscosity of Groundnut oil and Coconut oil decreases with increase in temperature. But for Coconut water the relationship between viscosity and temperature varies. i.e. the viscosity increases with increase in temperature from 30°C to 45°C and decreases from 50°C.
